I am not looking for better. I look elsewhere.

Saliha, founder of Avanvue

Avanvue was born out of a simple conviction. Artists who matter are sometimes seen before they become obvious, if you you look right and look long enough. That moment, when an artwork is already there but not yet recognized, is what interests me most. I don’t claim to have the best eye. I have my own, and I can explain why I linger over one artwork rather than another.

I've always been surrounded by art. Even as a very young child, I used to watch my father buy artworks by artists who were little known at the time, such as Chaïbia. In fact, I still have some of those paintings.

I studied art in France. I drew for years. I, too, was a collector. I've lived in Kenya, Egypt, and the United States, among other places. Those years taught me to look at art in very different contexts, outside any single way of seeing and any single market. My eye was built that way, elsewhere, through my successive moves, far from the circles of the Parisian art market. That’s what makes it different, not superior.

I’ve seen remarkable artists pass by unnoticed. Not because their work lacked power, but because the art market has its own codes and its own circuits.

It opens certain doors and leaves others shut.

I show little. For every artist I present, I note the date and explain why I chose them. An eye that claims to see early must accept beeing judged over time. And I don’t only show. I connect. I put the one who creates in the presence of the one who looks. At Avanvue, a collector meets a person and a body of work, never a catalog.

I have never exhibited my own artworks. I understood that I was more useful elsewhere.

Before Avanvue, I worked in luxury real estate at Engel & Völkers. There, I learned how to enter people's homes, how to look at a space before discussing prices, and how to understand what someone is truly looking for, which is not always what they say. An artwork is never chosen in isolation. It is going to live somewhere, in a certain light, with someone. I never forget that.

What I know how to do is look, connect, explain, and guide.

Avanvue is my answer.

A space where I connect artists I’ve selected with collectors who want to explore, understand, and move forward with confidence.

The Letter

Every two weeks, a letter about the art I truly look at.

Slower, more personal, freer.
