Overview
Safae Moatassime works with colored pencils and India ink on paper. Two styles coexist in her work: large-scale pieces characterized by broad, vibrant strokes, where color unfolds in layers of tightly packed lines, and a series of small-scale works in India ink constructed point by point using the stippling technique. In both cases, the same logic applies: a patient accumulation that produces something alive. The work lies as much in the repeated gesture as in the subject matter.
The titles are statements: A Plea for Sorrows, The Great Impermanence, My Grandmother Was a Masterpiece. They reveal what Safae Moatassime considers worthy of attention: inner states, female figures, and emotional memory. Drawing is the language she chooses to express these themes.
